About our boudoir studio, location, travel?
Our studio is designed specifically with boudoir in mind. We have a changing room, various sets and backdrops, and a small and friendly staff. Located on 29th Street in Chelsea. Parking is nearby at the Eventi Hotel. Penn Station is 3 blocks away.
Makeup, hair, etc.?
Makeup is included with all shoots; we tend to favor a subtle smokey-eyed, sultry look. Our professional makeup artist will tailor your look to suit your complexion taking into consideration your skin tone and hair color. Feel free to consult with the makeup artist should you have a desired look you prefer.
We offer the option of hair services for an additional $50 – usually a light curl or shaping with a hot iron. Alternatively, arrive with your hair styled and ready.
What do you suggest I bring in terms of outfits and lingerie?
Whatever makes you feel sexy, whatever you’re comfortable in, and whatever fits you best. That may be several different pieces, so bring them all. We recommend a dark and light set of bra & panties as they tend to photograph well and are good to have as a standby or for mixing and matching tops with. Other ideas: your favorite skinny jeans, a form-fitting tee. Have some options available and we’ll be able to give you recommendations during the shoot as to what we think may work best.
If you’re doing the shoot for your partner, you could bring his favorite sport jersey or baseball cap, maybe one of his comfy old t-shirts or a work shirt. If you’re completely lost for ideas why not pick up a few new items from Victoria’s Secret and treat yourself?
Do you retouch the boudoir images?
Yes we do. All images in your proofing gallery will be semi-retouched and enhanced. That includes removal of blemishes, spots, stretch marks, smoothing wrinkles etc., along with general skin smoothing. Final prints or album images are fully retouched.
Can you remove a scar, tattoo, birthmark?
We’d be happy to if you request it.
Do you provide boudoir outfits or clothing?
Not really. We do have several pairs of heels, sheer blouses, scarves, hats, the odd corset or babydoll, pearls, rings, and other jewelry and accessories that are available, but we stress that you should bring your own outfits & lingerie as they will fit you best and be to your taste. If something on our rack catches your eye feel free to use it.
Will my images be on the internet?
We provide secure online proofing or in-studio proofing. Online galleries are password protected and offer complete anonymity. No pictures are posted anywhere or used in-studio without your consultation and consent.
Will you delete my archived images?
We keep archived images for a few years, but we can delete them after you’ve made all your orders or have your own copy sent to you.
Will you blog my images?
We would seek your consent before using any of your images for any marketing purposes whatsoever, and completely respect your privacy and your wishes.
How many images will I get in my boudoir gallery?
For a 1 hour shoot we deliver 50+ images on average with select images duplicated in black and white.
Should I bring props for my boudoir photo shoot?
Sure, especially if you want to do something fun or themed for one of your outfit changes. We see a lot of sport jerseys or fiancé/partner-related items also.
I’m not comfortable with nudity, how do I decide how much to show?
Your comfort level should really dictate how much you reveal, and we totally respect that and never pressure you to go beyond it. We often shoot implied nudity where the subject is posed strategically so nothing shows or is partially hidden by a bedsheet. That said, we don’t discriminate if you’re looking for something a little more racy or provocative; so whether the tone is Victoria’s Secret, Maxim, or Playboy, we’ll help you get there.
I’m not a natural born model (who is?), so I’m a bit nervous about posing!
No need to be nervous at all. We’ll direct you through the shoot to accentuate the positive and bring the best out of you in a natural way. A good tip, silly as it may sound, is to practice your “model look” in the mirror – don’t think “Blue Steel” but rather your face in repose, lips open slightly, the hint of a smile in your eyes… then work it a little and see what develops.
I hate my (insert body part)…!
We all have those areas we’d like to improve, and even models need retouching. That’s to say, don’t sweat it. We won’t focus on those areas, with correct posing we’ll truly accentate your natural assets.
I’m a big girl, curvy and voluptuous… can you pose me?
Not to change the subject, but size, in this case, doesn’t matter. What truly does count, and what makes a great image or portrait, is the attitude of the subject. Embrace who you are, and love yourself – not to come over all Dr. Phil on you – but what makes somebody sexy is their confidence and comfort level – that devil-may-care attitude (even if you fake it!). We shoot curvier ladies all the time, and we work out some great poses during the shoot.
Can you make me look thinner or my breasts bigger?
We can do extensive retouching to select images – there is an additional charge for major work – just ask.
Who sees my photos?
The photographer and/or retoucher only.
Are my boudoir photos secure?
Yes. Our archives are on a secure offline server. Any online galleries are password protected with a built-in expiry date.
Our anniversary/wedding/his birthday is next week and I want to surprise him!
Although we suggest you leave as much lead time as possible when planning a boudoir shoot to allow for editing, design and delivery of product we can turnaround a shoot very quickly if you’re prepared to pay a rush fee so we can prioritize your order.
How many different sets do you have?
We have several different sets or backdrops including a bedroom setting, retro couch, elegant chair, upholstered bench.
What tips do you have prior to the boudoir shoot?
If possible, wear something loose fitting to avoid strap marks. Moisturize. Be prepared to enjoy yourself.
Will you shoot in my residence or hotel room?
We’re happy to shoot on location, there is an additional fee for travel.
