Questions & answers

How many images are delivered from a 1 hour shoot?
For a 1 hour shoot we deliver over 50 images on average, with select images duplicated in black and white.

How do I view my images / proofs?
We offer an online secure password-protected gallery from which you can pick your favorites for framing, books, download or display.

Final images are fully retouched.

How long does it take to see images?
Approximately 2 weeks. Rush services are available.

What products do you offer?
We offer a range of display products & files.

Beautifully-designed high-quality albums, flushmount or matted, with leather, silk, or linen covers. We also have a stylishly-modern look book magazine with glossy cover. In addition, we offer a stunning coffee table book with hard cover fit to grace any stylish home. All come with your favorite fully retouched images.

Framed print options: our preference is for classic thin black or white frame with white mats and glass front -- acrylic fronts just don't sparkle! A simple clean frame allows the image to stand out and will feel timeless and also fit a wide range of decor. We also offer gold leaf and dark wood frames in a variety of colors and sizes. Frames with multiple matted images are also available to create a montage effect.

In terms of large prints, we can go as big as you like, in any combination you like. For single portraits, especially maternity, our most popular size is a 20 x 30".  A set of 3 images together also looks stunning and really tells a story, for this we recommend 20 x 20" size.

A range of smaller desk prints, canvas prints and other options are available.

We use the highest-quality printing materials and methods. Framed prints come ready to hang.

Digital images are available semi or fully retouched, high resolution, delivered to your email, by download or on a drive. No watermarks. Full usage.

Other products include keepsake books, boxes of prints, and printed proofs.

Do you retouch the images?
Yes we do. All images will be semi-retouched and enhanced and color corrected. That includes general removal of blemishes, spots, stretch marks, and some skin smoothing.

Images destined for framed prints, album selection, and image download are fully retouched.

Can you remove a scar, tattoo, birthmark?
We’d be happy to if you request it.

Can you make me look thinner or my breasts bigger?
We can do extensive retouching to select images – there is an additional charge for major work – just ask.

Who sees my photos?
The photographer and/or retoucher only.

What payments do you accept?
We accept all major credit & debit cards, checks and cash.

Travel, parking, location:
We're located on 29th Street in Chelsea next to 6th Avenue, adjacent the Eventi Hotel -- where underground parking is available.  Penn Station is 3-4 blocks away as is Macy's.

About makeup & hair:
Makeup is included with all of our shoots. We tend to favor a smokey-eyed, sultry look but our professional makeup artists will tailor your look to suit your complexion – taking into consideration skin tone and hair color. Feel free to consult with the makeup artist should you have a desired look you prefer.

We offer the option of hair services for an additional $50 – usually a light curl or shaping with a hot iron. Alternatively, arrive with your hair already styled.

How do I prep for the shoot?
A good night's rest, be hydrated and moisturized. Wear loose-fitting clothing to the shoot to minimize skin marks. Bring a great attitude and be ready to have fun!

We send you a prep email beforehand too.

What outfits, clothing or lingerie should I bring?
Bring what makes you feel sexy or comfortable and what fits your figure best. That may be several different pieces, so bring them all. For boudoir we recommend a dark and light set of bra & panties as they tend to photograph well against different backdrops and are good to have on standby to change things up. Other items aside from lingerie might be your favorite skinny jeans, a form-fitting tee or favorite blouse -- matched with a pair of heels and little else we can create some amazingly sexy looks. Whatever you bring, we'll be on hand to give you our recommendations.

If you’re doing the shoot for your partner, you could wear his favorite sport jersey or baseball cap, maybe one of his comfy old t-shirts or a work shirt. If you’re completely lost for ideas why not treat yourself to something new?

For maternity shoots there are a number of options depending on the look you want to create, for something more lifestyle we recommend loose-fitting blouses, jeans, shirts, yoga pants, tees, wife-beaters are popular too. For a more stylized-look, any sort of flowing gown or dress, something figure-hugging, clingy dress to accentuate your bump is great too.

For portraits it's good to have a few options, something casual, something colorful, something dressy. Bring what fits you best and you like to wear. And don't forget accessories!

For nude shoots just bring your best self, a little confidence, and moisturizer. That being said, we have experimented a little with body paint – gold or silvery paint that brings out tonality and highlights, so that's always an option.

Should I bring props for my boudoir photo shoot?
Sure, especially if you want to do something fun or themed for one of your outfit changes. We see a lot of sport jerseys or fiance or partner-related items also.

How many different sets do you have?
We have several different sets or backdrops including a bedroom setting, retro couch, elegant chair, upholstered bench.

Will you shoot in my residence or hotel room?
We’re happy to shoot on location, there is an additional fee for travel.

I’m uncertain about nudity, how do I decide how much to show?
Your comfort level should really dictate how much you reveal, and we totally respect that and never pressure you to go beyond it. We often shoot implied nudity where the subject is posed strategically so nothing shows or is partially hidden by a bedsheet, pillow or some other prop. That said, we don’t discriminate if you’re looking for something a little more racy or provocative such as Maxim or Playboy.

I’m not a natural born model (who is?), so I’m a bit nervous about posing!
No need to be nervous at all. We’ll direct you through the shoot to accentuate the positive and bring the best out of you in a natural way. A good tip, silly as it may sound, is to practice your “model look” in the mirror – don’t think “Blue Steel” but rather your face in repose, lips open slightly, the hint of a smile in your eyes… then work it a little and see what develops.

I hate my (insert body part)…!
We all have those areas we’d like to improve, and even models need retouching. That’s to say, don’t sweat it. We won’t focus on those areas, with correct posing we’ll truly accentuate your natural assets.

I’m a big girl, curvy and voluptuous… can you pose me?
Not to change the subject, but size, in this case, doesn’t matter. What truly does count, and what makes a great image or portrait, is the attitude of the subject. Embrace who you are, and love yourself – not to come over all Dr. Phil on you – but what makes somebody sexy is their confidence and comfort level – that devil-may-care attitude (even if you fake it!). We shoot curvier ladies all the time, and we work out some great poses during the shoot.

Our anniversary/wedding/his birthday is next week and I want to surprise him!
Although we suggest you leave as much lead time as possible when planning a boudoir shoot to allow for editing, design and delivery of product, we can turnaround a shoot very quickly, however, a rush fee may be applicable so we can prioritize your order. Call us and we'll se what we can do.

Do you photograph couple’s boudoir?
Yes we do. New York Couples Boudoir Photographer.

Will you blog my images?
